Xross Road offers a rare opportunity to solve a well-documented problem in global entertainment: the limited international accessibility and monetization of Japanese anime IP. Despite Japan’s anime industry generating over $28B annually, a significant portion of high-value IP never reaches global audiences due to licensing complexity, piracy, and tightly held rights. At the same time, neither fans nor early contributors capture meaningful upside when IP goes mainstream.

Xross Road, backed by TV Asahi Group—one of Japan’s “Big 6” broadcasters—offers a compliant and scalable solution. It provides access to coveted IP while tokenizing the royalties of future anime releases through on-chain revenue-sharing tokens (XRT). This introduces a new, legal way for fans and creators to participate directly in the success of Japanese content. With support from authors of iconic franchises (Godzilla, Ready Player One, X-Men, Batman, Gundam, Macross, and Ultraman), Xross has secured eight major IPs, with formal acquisition set for June 2025. These assets are paired with anime studios responsible for titles like Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kingdom, and Space Cobra.

With R&D underway into AI-generated anime and copyright infringement detection (in partnership with Allora Network), Xross also plays into the broader AI + content creation narrative. Its ve-model-based community layer adds incentives for long-term holders and supporters. While the opportunity is massive, two key risks remain: (1) the complexity of navigating anime licensing at scale, and (2) maintaining fan trust in a Web3-native monetization model. That said, the team—comprising ex-DMM Games and DMM Crypto leadership, Supra strategy execs, and MAPPA-affiliated creators—is well-equipped to navigate both.

With IP acquisition, a novel revenue model, and full studio backing, Xross is positioned to become the definitive RWA gateway into the anime sector.
